DESCRIPTION

    An island sanctuary off the coast of Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat – which translates as ‘island of happiness’ – is the emirate’s flagship development. Lying to the north east of Abu Dhabi city it occupies an area of 27 square kilometres, the entire project is due for completion by 2018 and is created around an eco-sensitive philosophy with a special low density masterplan.

    A premier island destination as well as a modern, integrated residential community, Saadiyat will eventually be home to an estimated 150,000 residents with a full complement of leisure and tourism facilities, as well as civic and cultural amenities.

    Saadiyat will be linked to Abu Dhabi city via two iconic causeways, one of which will operate a light rail system and a 10-kilometre long highway with bridge, making it a mere five minute drive from the heart of downtown Abu Dhabi and close distance to Abu Dhabi International Airport.

    COMPONENTS

    Saadiyat will be developed around seven distinctive districts with 29 hotels - including an iconic seven-star property - 3 marinas with mooring for 1,000 yachts, a culture and arts hub, 2 golf courses, 19 kilometres of beachfront. Saadiyat will contain an infinite combination of desirable residential developments and leisure facilities.

    The Cultural District
    Will be home to five major cultural institutions designed by internationally renowned architects and a Biennale Park setting with pavilions designed to host international art and cultural fairs and events. It will also boast a city-facing quayside, an iconic seven-star hotel, exclusive villas and hotel accommodation, extensive retail opportunities, harbours and green parks.

    Saadiyat Beach
    A unique treasure with natural qualities featuring a select number of low density five-star hotels set back behind the natural sand dunes creating a paradise beach setting. This unspolit area contains11 kilometres of perfect natural beach, with a postcard Blue Ocean teeming with sea life.

    Saadiyat Beach will also be home to the first of two championship golf courses planned for Saadiyat Island. The championship golf course will be designed by Gary Player and will be the first in the Arabian Gulf with several beach-front holes. It is also the first in the UAE to be designed by the South African who is acknowledged as the most successful international golfer of all time, and whose career includes three Masters wins, three British Open titles, two PGA championships and the US Open title to complete the Grand Slam.

    Saadiyat Marina
    Al Marina area will be home for an impressive portfolio of national and international businesses operating from a wide selection of unique office premises, as well as a luxury residential component, boutique hotels and specialty leisure and entertainment facilities.

    South Beach
